Front-End Developer

We are seeking a motivated candidate who is proficient in front-end development and is able to work within IBM’s Web Portal. The portals you will work on are for the purpose of allowing customers and insurance providers to view the contents of their respected insurance claims.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute detailed analysis, design, and assistance for department programs and applications
  • Aid in research and grant resolution for processing of business data
  • Provide documentation and specification in accordance with department standards. Code, test, and incorporate applications.
  • Aid Quality Assurance Teams in proofing applications
  • Translate technical language into business terminology so that it is easy to understand
  • Provide around the clock production support for applications
  • Take charge as the technical lead on development efforts
  • Review technical and code documents
  • Collaborate with other teams on development activities (quality assurance testing, database management, and infrastructure configuration).
  • Professionally advise clients with technical assistance when needed
  • Act as a leader on moderately complex projects
  • Possess excellent communication skills when interacting with all team members and clients.



  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Information Systems, or Data Processing, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Information Systems doing development work or a combination of applicable experience and demonstrated ability to meet the Information Systems Career Ladder Competencies which include strategy, budget and analytic ability, focus, design/analysis, leadership, budget and analytic ability, and support/implementation
  • Experience with CSS pre-processors (SASS or LESS)
  • Understanding of front-end build systems Gulp or Grunt
  • Understanding of responsive website design frameworks, specifically Bootstrap
  • Background using AJAX and client-side templates (Mustache, Handlebars, Dust) to build web pages
  • Thorough understanding of Javascript with familiarity of JQuery or AngularJS
  • Knowledgeable in accessibility requirements
  • Understanding of user-based governmental standards like Section 508
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS) including IBM Portal and Web Content Management (WCM)
